Darland Woolsey Heaps passed away on October 15, 2017 in Paonia, Colorado.  He was born May 15, 1930 in Escalante, Utah to William Lester and Tyresha Ann (Leola) Woolsey Heaps.

He married Irene Ruth Marshall on December 23, 1950 in Fredonia, Arizona.  Marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on February 14, 1952.  Together they had six children.  She preceded him in death in 1969.  He later married Margaret Eleanor Grubbs Krstyen on November 26, 1969 in Salina, Utah.  Together they had 2 children (and 3 step children).  She preceded him in death in 2007.

Darland served our country proudly as a member of the United States Army from March of 1951 until his honorable discharge in March of 1953.

Darland was a proud coal miner.  He loved being outdoors and living on a farm.  He was one to be up with the chickens with a cup of black coffee in his hand, watching over his livestock.  Dar’s never-ending passion was his horses and horse racing.

He will be great missed.
