Carol Durrant

Biography Carol Kay Durrant WELLINGTON- Carol Kay Durrant, 85, of Wellington, passed away Tuesday, February 4th. She was born to the late Lee and Leah Kay, September 13, 1928, in Provo. Carol graduated from Wasatch High School in 1947 and received a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University in 1951. She married Wilford Durrant in 1965 and they lived together with their family in Green River before relocating to Wellington in 1991. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Carol made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She was an active volunteer, an avid reader, and an advocate for wildlife and conservation. She was clever, outspoken, and fearless. Carol was a Fifth-Grade teacher until she retired in 1989 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Her love of learning and her teaching skills were legendary. She was a teaching virtuoso who made classrooms come alive for nearly four decades. Carol adored her large family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren warmed her heart, and her laughter and smiling eyes lit up the room during those wonderful moments when the family gathered in her home. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, considerate, loyal woman who gave without question, and held honesty, integrity, and courage in the highest regard. Carol was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her faith, and worked in various callings, including Relief Society President; however, her favorite calling was leading the music. She often said "If you can't sing, just make a joyful noise." Carol is survived by her husband and best friend of 48 years, Wilford Durrant. She is also survived by five children: Susan and Curt Dickson, of Price; Jan and Jeff Tingey, of Logan; Lee and Angelique Durrant, of Price; Charles and April Durrant of Boise, Idaho; and Ed and Julie Durrant, of Oro Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and one sibling, her sister Kathleen Allen of Mercer Island, Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Virginia Rawley and Eloise Stireman, and her brother, Richard Kay. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wellington LDS 4th Ward Chapel (50 North 100 East, Wellington, Utah) A viewing will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price, Utah (680 East 100 South) and also on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
