Esther Humphrey

June 2, 1920 — February 3, 2022

"Esther May Beebe Humphrey {1920-2022) passed away knowing that the next time she opened her eyes, she would be in paradise here on earth (Revelation 21:3,4). Esther was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to John and Edna Beebe and eventually moved to Whittier, California where her parents established and operated a boarding house. There she met her future husband, Vernon Humphrey. They married in 1939. Three children were born to them: Barbara Adair Humphrey ( Morales ) [1943-2019], Robert Everette Humphrey [died as a baby 1946], and Julie Kay Humphrey (Conk) in 1953. From these Esther had 5 grandchildren: Tania (Bill) Millholland, Leah(Mike) Holt, Amy(Micah) Damon, Chelsy Conk, Taylor(Zulema) Conk. She had 4 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Dustin, Max, and Alexis, and 7 great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her only 2 sisters, her only brother, a son, and a daughter. She outlived them all- except Julie. Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1958, Esther held fast to the hope of either surviving the end of the current conditions of this world, and living into the beginnings of a paradise earth under Christ Jesus' rulership, or to rest in peace in death and be resurrected back to life later into that new earth, where she will be welcomed by her loved ones, and she will welcome all those who had died prior to her in that resurrection.

Esther was a hard worker helping her husband Vernon, to make a living, while raising a family. She worked in her families boarding house, sewing in factories, and helping Vernon in his painting business. After his death Esther remained a widow until her death about 40 years later. She was also a very accomplished artist. Her paintings are treasured. We look forward to seeing her again!"
