Janet Magnuson

March 10, 1939 — June 2, 2020

Janet D'Ann Wickman Magnuson, 81, passed away peacefully June 2nd, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born March 10th, 1939 in Hiawatha, Utah to Neldon and Grace Winn Wickman. She grew up in Castle Dale, Utah where she met the love of her life, Jack LeRoy Magnuson. They were married November 25th, 1955 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized on May 13th, 1997 in the Manti Temple. Janet was a hard worker and played a crucial role in helping with Jack's dream to establish a lumber yard in Castle Dale. While Jack worked other jobs, Janet kept the lumber yard going in their backyard. Together, Jack and Janet worked hard to build Magnuson Lumber into a successful business. Janet served as a member of the Emery County Chamber of Commerce for many years. She also served the community as an EMT. Janet was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many callings. She, along with her husband Jack, served nine years at the Church Cannery and a two-year humanitarian mission. She loved to study the scriptures and could often be found studying in her living room. Janet enjoyed doing all kinds of handiwork; sewing, embroidery, crocheting, cross-stitch, and quilting. She loved to save all the pictures, schoolwork, and programs from her grandkid's schools and other activities. She then would proudly present each grandchild with a beautiful scrapbook that held so many memories. One of the highlights of her life was attending "Club" each month with the lovely ladies of the community. Janet loved to travel with friends and family. Her grandchildren were privileged to travel to numerous places around the world with her and Grandpa Jack. Grandma's greatest joy was being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cared deeply for her family and took special care to adore each new great-grandbaby. All of the grandkids have special memories of Grandma at home, on vacations, and up to the cabin in Joe's Valley with her and Grandpa. She is survived by her son Randy (Laurel) Magnuson, daughter Jarilyn Spears; Her grandchildren, Dallas (Shanna) Magnuson, Lindsey (Cody) Oman, McKenzie (Chance) Garrison, Eric (Caitlin) Spears, Leisha (Dalton) Judd, and McCall Spears; Her great-grandchildren, Korbin Garrison, Mylie Magnuson, Macee Garrison, Olivia Spears, Peyton Oman, Dreyden Oman, Jaxton Oman, Jack Spears, and Gracelyn Judd. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Magnuson, her parents Neldon and Grace Winn Wickman; brothers Craig, David, and John; sister Neldona; and great-granddaughter Maeli McCall Garrison. The family wishes to thank those at the Emery County Care Center and to offer their sincere gratitude to Sandy and Mandi of Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their kindness, care, and compassion. A family viewing will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Fausett Mortuary, 720 North Center, Castle Dale, Utah. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Castle Dale City Cemetery. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook and share memories of Janet at www.fausettmortuary.com.
