Kathleen Underwood

Kathleen Underwood Ferron: Kathleen (Kathy) Underwood, age 76, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in Ferron, UT, of complications arising from lung disease. She was born August 13, 1936, in Claysburg , Blair County, Pennsylvania, to Robert Eberhart and Rozella Miller; however, following her parent's divorce, her mother married Leroy D. Weyant who, subsequently, adopted both Kathleen and her sister, Eileen, giving them his name. Kathy lived in Pennsylvania until she was twelve, at which time she moved with her family to Esparto, California. Living in a rural community instilled in Kathy the love of the great outdoors and the freedom to live life to its fullest. She moved from Esparto to Santa Clara with her family, married, and became the proud mother of four sons. After her divorce from her husband, she lived in Southern California for some time until she met Gerald E. Underwood, whom she married in 1976. Both Jerry and Kathy loved the out-of-doors and, after Jerry's retirement, they decided to move to Loa, Utah. They lived there for a number of years before health reasons dictated that they move to Ferron. They loved their home in Ferron and cherished the friends they made while living there. Sadly, Jerry passed away on June 27, 2011, in Ferron. While living in Ferron, Kathy worked as the Store Manager at Main Street Market for over 12 years. She was a gifted artist who made jewelry, quilts, and crocheted items ... in addition to all types of arts and crafts. Kathy had a great sense of humor and was known for her quick wit and kind heart. She was a hard worker and always had a loving smile for all. She will be remembered as a strong and independent lady who loved helping others. Kathy is survived by her four sons, Dale Barker of Utah, Jeff Antonicchio of California, Wayne (Amey) Antonicchio of California and Michael Antinicchio of Idaho. She is also survived by her mother, Rozella Weyant, California, and her sister, Janice Weyant (John) King, California, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eileen, her adopted father, Leroy, and her husband, Jerry. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the BlueHills LDS Chapel in Ferron. Friends and family are welcome to come and share memories of Kathy.
