Olive Jones

November 2, 1929 — March 15, 2018

Olive Branch Jones of Colfax, California died peacefully in Auburn, CA on March 15, at the age of 88. Olive was the daughter of Ida and Melville Branch and was born Nov. 2, 1929 in Price, Utah. She grew up in Wellington, Utah across the street from the church. Her family had a farm and one of the crops they raised were sugar beets. When telling stories of her childhood she would often say that her family survived the depression because they grew their own food and raised chickens. She was the only girl in her family and the middle child. She taught herself to read at an early age and was an avid reader her entire life. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Merrill Branch and George Branch. She attended school to become a bookkeeper/accountant. She married Norman F. Jones (son of Paul N. Jones and Ola C. Clark) on September 8,1951 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey where he was stationed during the Korean War. Norman Jones died of cancer Aug. 1979 and Olive never remarried. She worked various jobs in Orange, Ca. finally becoming an Enrolled Agent for the IRS and having her own tax business until she sold it and moved to Colfax to retire. She enjoyed dancing, reading, taking drives to see new places, and all kinds of crafts. She was kind and generous and loved being with her family. Olive is survived by her three children, Susan Jones-Kubeska of Langley, WA, Steven L. Jones of Alta, CA, and Sharon Jones Hickok of Auburn, CA, and her 4 grandchildren; Michael Kubeska, Alexandra (Alex) Kubeska , Christopher Hickok, and Kathryn (Katie) Hickok. Her memorial service will be held at the LDS church in Helper, Utah and she will be buried in the Mountain View Cemetery on June 16, 2018.
