Ruth Stilson

Orangeville, Ut - Ruth Humphrey Stilson, 94, passed away peacefully May 17, 2019, at her home in Orangeville, Utah. She was born July 20, 1924 in Orangeville to Lillie Sophia Christensen and Wilford J. Humphrey. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers: Mark, Lee, Dee, Howard and Tom, and by her sisters, Lavern (Day), and Mary (Snow). Ruth married Kent Stilson on June 25, 1942 in the Manti LDS temple; Kent died in April, 2018, also at the age of 94. They were the parents of 5 children: Ken (Kathy) Stilson (deceased), Royce (Judy) Stilson, Valene (Lond) Wakefield, Lewis (Leigh) Stilson, Camille (Richard) Williams. Ruth has 26 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She worked for 17 years as Deputy Emery County Assessor, and later as chief salesperson & accountant for Stilson & Sons Construction. Ruth sold Boise Cascade and Interstate houses, which her husband and sons set on concrete foundations and performed the finish work--providing housing for 200 families during the power plant energy boom from 1970-1990's. In her spare time, she sold insurance. Ruth served faithfully in her LDS church ward, as Sunday School Teacher, Ward Relief Society President, and Stake Drama Director for numerous road shows, as well as other callings. She and Kent served a full-time couples mission in South Carolina. Ruth lived a remarkable and miraculous life, considering that she survived a fall from an apricot tree in the 1950s, fracturing two vertebrae. She had to learn to walk all over again. Her posterity thank God for preserving her life these additional 60 years. Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 24, 2019, at 12 o'clock noon, at the Orangeville Ward Building, 45 West 100 South, Orangeville. Friends may call at the Ward Building from 10:30-11:30 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Orangeville City Cemetery.
