Velma Gardner

January 17, 1926 — April 16, 2020

Velma Mable Jones Gardner, 94, was escorted home to Heavenly Father by her sweetheart, Burke, her sons Alan, and Chad, and her grandson, John, on April 16, 2020 in West Jordan, Utah. She was born to Elam Leslie and Mable Powell Jones on January 17, 1926 in Huntington, Emery County, Utah; the oldest of 3 daughters. She married Burke E. Gardner on September 24, 1946 in Huntington, Utah and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, September 26, 1961. Velma created a wonderful home for her family. She was a very loving, supportive wife and mother who gave her whole soul to serving her family in every way. Mom and Dad taught us to laugh, sing, dance, to love music and what was most important in life - the gospel of Jesus Christ and our family. She loved to shop, especially for clothes, shoes and jewelry. Looking her very best was important to her. Velma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a strong woman, strong in spirit and might. She loved her Heavenly Father and was full of faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. She was the kind of grandmother every child wants - the one that would wade in the creek, build bon fires to roast hot dogs and marshmallows, go on hikes, and take you bowling and swimming. The grandchildren loved their annual week at Grandma and Grandpa's house in the summer. Despite the many trials she went through the past several years, she never gave up, she truly epitomized what it means to endure to the end. She is survived by son, L. Brent (Lynne) Gardner, Highland, Utah, daughter, Janet Lee (Kerry) Anderson, West Jordan, Utah, Dusty Nay, Huntington, Utah, who was like a daughter to her, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, sister, Lucy Curtis, 3 Gardner sisters and 3 Gardner brothers. Preceded in death by husband, Burke; son, Alan Burke, son, Chad Brooke, grandson, John, her parents, sister, Donna Manchester, and 15 Gardner brothers and sisters. Funeral services for the immediate family will be held Friday, April 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home in Huntington, Utah. The family is encouraging you to join them prior to and during the funeral services with a live stream link at 1:00 p.m. on FaceBook - Fausett Mortuary - Copy and paste link into your browser. https://www.facebook.com/pg/Fausett-Mortuary- 133084083410425/events/?ref=page_internal Interment will be at the Huntington City Cemetery.
