Vernon Jensen

Vernon Jack Jensen Vernon Jack Jensen, 85, passed away in Price, UT March 13, 2016. He was born June 19, 1930 in Huntington, UT to John Alfred & Ila Woolman Jensen. He has resided in Emery County most of his life. He attended school locally and went to work for the coal mines for over 35 years and maintained his membership in the UMWA. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was an active member of the American Legion Post 73. He married Phyllis Marjorie Rickerd on Nov. 27, 1954 and the marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on Jan. 31, 1964. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with the family. His family was his pride and joy. Vernon is survived by his children, Debra Lynn (Warren) Oviatt of Huntington, Robert Timothy Jensen of Gunnison, Thomas Glenn (Christine) Jensen of Huntington, Janet Renee (Larry) Devereaux, Gordon Wade (Shauna) Jensen of Price. He had 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Also surviving Vernon are his siblings Merl (Ralph) Henley of Tennesse, Rita Alderson of Price, Karen Marthaler of Minnesota, Keith (LaRue) Jensen of Roosevelt, and Ruby Fry of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, brothers, James Alfred Jensen, Alton Lavar Jensen and a great grandson Jacques. A viewing will be held Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home in Huntington from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Huntington Stake Center at 11:00 AM with a visitation at the church an hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Huntington City Cemetery. Funeral services are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home.
