Wayne Gremel

Wayne Wilbur Gremel was born February 19,1934 in Brighton, Colorado passed away in his home August 11, 2025, at the age of 91.

Wayne was one of the last true cowboys and enjoyed his life outside punching cows. He loved horses and the life of being a cowboy.

He worked long days making sure that cows were doing the best that they could be. He would rather be horseback than just about anything else he could be doing.

He married his high school sweetheart Carrie Lou Gremel (Killough) May 24, 1956, in Delta, Colorado. Wayne worked on and managed ranches throughout the western united states and fell in love with the desert and mountains in the Emery area. Wayne and Carrie Lou built a house in Emery in 1985 and resided there for the remainder of their lives. Carrie Lou preceded Wayne in Death and passed away August 19, 2021.

Wayne is survived by his 2 sons, Cody Gremel (Glenwood Springs, Colorado) and Clay Gremel (Elko, NV) along with Clay’s wife Gina Gremel.

No services will be held per Wayne’s wishes and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Moran Eye Institute at the University of Utah’s Macular Degeneration research in his name.
